K-Pop Demon Hunters (October 5, 2025)
I started my trip around the world on June 29th, 2025 and at that time K-Pop Demon Hunters had not grown to become the culture pop sensation that it is today. In the past three months, I’ve barely watched any content, mostly sticking to physical and audiobooks (see related blog post). So when it showed up as a top Netflix recommendation last night, I jokingly suggested we watch it today as part of our down day. To which both Elena and Violet affirmatively agreed they’d love to watch it … again. What? Where have I been?
Cultural pop sensation movie recommended by Elena and Violet
It was SO fun. I see why it has exploded since it’s release and why both Elena and Violet were excited to watch it with me again. I laughed. I cried. I tapped my foot and wiggled to the songs. It was one of those feel good movies with a great message and everything you want in movie entertainment. Highly recommend.
And this is what I have attempted to do about one out of every seven to ten days traveling. This is my “down day.” Yes, Elena and I found a laundromat and did all of our laundry. Yes, we also went to a grocery store and bought snacks. And yes, we checked on our travel logistics for tomorrow as we check out of Naples and head to Sicily on an overnight ferry (and glad we did as our reservation currently says “cancelled” and that’s concerning).
But overall, nothing has been planned for today and that’s the point. It’s easy to get swept up in doing too much when travelling. We could have easily planned “one more thing” in Naples for today. Perhaps another day trip or a museum or something “fun” that required logistics and planning.
But what we all needed was NOTHING. A free day to relax, take it easy, and rest up for the next part of our journey. As we continue our travels together, more of this will ensure the longevity of this world tour. While not enough of this leisure time will surely result in an early termination.
So, how about you? When’s the last time you truly unplugged and did nothing? Nothing at all. Scheduled nothing. Created no plans. Allowed yourself the freedom to just BE. We all need this and I find that for the longest time I didn’t give myself enough of it. It’s a great reminder to slow down and really enjoy life.
Quick snuggle moment on our down day together. “Less is more.”
May you be happy. May you be well. May you experience unconditional inner peace this day and every day. Know that you are loved.
Love,
Bill
