Nai Harn Beach, Phuket, TH (March 19, 2026)
This is truly the best “weather station” legend I’ve seen to date
The weather here in Phuket has remained spectacular. If it rains at all, it tends to rain late in the evening usually after dinner. This makes it easy to plan our days as a family.
The plan was to go to Nai Harn beach at 6am and watch the sun come up. We got there right at 6am and the sun did come up at 6:35 as anticipated, but the beach was facing west and the sun was blocked by the nearby mountains, so we need to come back for a sunset instead. Still a beautiful morning at the beach.

I admit it, I’ve become spoiled with all the incredible sun rises that can be viewed less than a mile from our AirBnb on the Rawai peer. And it looks like this:
Really amazing sun rises I’ve been getting up and watching daily
So instead of staring at the sun coming up over the horizon, we walked up and back the half mile of beach a number of times to get some morning exercise. At 6am we were by ourselves. By 7:30am, there was a large group of joggers who were going for it and those who were planning to spend the day at the beach were arriving.

There were a few surfers looking to catch a few waves. All the waves look really tiny but perhaps they knew something I didn’t.

After a solid two miles of our morning walk, we decided to have breakfast there at Rock Salt. The only thing more spectacular than the food were the views. This was mine:
No window, just fresh air less than an hour after sunrise
And yes, there were many dogs out for their morning walk with their owners. Lots of balls being tossed into the ocean for a retrieval game and a few coconuts for the bigger dogs who enjoyed chasing after nature. All in all, it was a wonderful way to start our day — even if we need to return for a sunset viewing to get what we were after.
This truly is Elena’s happy place (and mine is wherever she is)
