SkyJump Auckland (February 21, 2026)
I thought a 43 meter jump off a bridge in Queenstown was epic. I mean, it was and is, for sure, but today we met another challenge that’s nearly 4.5 times more challenging in terms of the 192 meters that Elena, Violet and I jumped from today. You know those Sky Towers most cities have? Well today, here in Auckland, today each of us walked fully around it and jumped!
View from the ground before we went up, walked around & jumped!
And yes, you read that right! My wife, Elena Carmody, joined us for both the walk around this 53 story tower and then jumped off it. Below, I have video of each of us walking around and then jumping the full 192 meters which is 629 feet! Yes, this was a new level that each of us unlocked today. It felt so empowering and incredible. New Zealand for the WIN when it comes to adrenaline. This has been an incredible month for all of us! And it was amazing to do this with Elena today.
Three adults, four legs, leaning over a drop that’s 192 meters down!
Our guide’s name is Annie and she was awesome. Each time we rose to the challenge, she would give us another challenge to attempt. All together, we leaned over the edge backwards, forwards and using only a single leg (like this one):
Practicing Soo Bahk Do 192 meters up. Decent side kick.
This balancing was insane — walking on a knife’s edge 192 meters up
I think you get the picture. There are many more where these came from. Violet and Elena were right there with me and each of us did these challenges to find our fear edge and work with it in a totally safe harness (but that doesn’t help our brains from yelling, “What in the HELL are you doing right now?!!)
So, as the 1984 Van Halen song goes, “Might as well JUMP!” While Violet and I each did this jump, I’m most impressed with my wife, Elena. So, as they say, “Ladies first!”
I am SO proud of her. The way this went down is that Violet and I were the first to sign up for this SkyJump and did it before the SkyWalk. Once Elena saw both Violet and I do the SkyJump, then joined us on the SkyWalk, all three of us did it again. Woo to the Hoo!
Love my guides! Sam encouraged me to swan dive in the 2nd jump!
And then, for extra “style points” I did a yoga bow pose on the way down grabbing both of my ankles as I fell 192 meters.
Falling from a building never felt so liberating. Weeeeee!
And, of course, Violet was given similar instructions and did an amazing job with her second jump having just as much fun (and maybe a bit more) than me:
Violet swan dives off the tower descending 192 meters with grace
Every time I think I’ve reached the “end of the line” there’s always something new and exciting waiting for me. Just think of everything that Violet has done in the last seven months: skydive, bungy jump, zipline, scuba dive, and that’s just the beginning. Today we SkyWalked and SkyJumped together as a family. Who knows what’s next? And that’s the point. But wait … there’s MORE!
Will Carmody joins the party! He just flew in TODAY. Who Hoo!!!!
