Farewell, Sydney. Much Love! (January 28, 2026)

Sydney Tower was once the largest building. Today it’s the largest “structure” which doesn’t have the same ring to it. That’s because the Crown Sydney is now the largest building (at 271.3-meters), even though Sydney Tower (at 309 meters) is the tallest structure when you include the lightning rod at the top.

Violet, Swantje and I had dinner at the highest restaurant in Sydney

Regardless of the semantics, this was one of the remaining things left on our “bucket list” for Sydney, so we decided to have dinner here last night. The views were spectacular and the food was really good too. And THIS time, I didn’t forget my banana hat …

Enjoying dinner at the top of the world here in Sydney Tower

What an amazing way to close out our time together. Seriously. We picked the perfect time to enjoy dinner up here too. The sun was just starting to set which cast some gorgeous light on everything below. We saw this very building from the Sydney Harbor Bridge (see related post) and now we’re looking at the bridge from this sky restaurant.

And now we’re off to New Zealand. When we arrive, we’ll see Elena who arrived earlier today. There we’ll begin our adventure just the three of us until February 20th when my son Will will join us in Auckland. I’m so lucky to have my whole family with me in New Zealand. I have no idea what adventures await us, but I’m excited that we all will be together, traveling the world as a family. Amazing.
