Love is an Algorithm (April 3, 2026)
I’m so proud of my nice, Laura Brooke Robson. She just launched her fourth book, Love is an Algorithm in New York City. We were there in person for her last book launch A Curse for the Homesick and I truly enjoyed reading this book. In all, she’s professionally published four books (including The Sea Knows My Name and Girls at the Edge of the World). I’m proud not because this is her fourth book published, but rather that she’s continued to commit to her writing in addition to her full time career.
If you’re looking for a great book to read, I’m confident Love is an Algorithm will continue her unblemished track record of powerful writing and thought provoking storytelling.
Now, I’m not sure if there’s a reason for a different cover for the audible book than the hardcover, but this is what the cover of the physical books looks like:
Great cover design (and pull quote from Jessica Stanley)
There are many things I love about Laura, but at the top of my list is how much she has always been there for Will and Violet. Every Christmas, we’d either fly to California to be with my parents or Bend, Oregon to be with Laura and her family (Nancy, Jack & Drew Robson) as well as Elena’s mom and dad (Connie & Richard Knies).
My kids have grown up being influenced by both Drew and Laura. As Will is an aspiring writer, he’s spent some quality time asking Laura questions about how she began, her process, and how she overcame some of the more common challenges all writers experience.
Her brother Drew (my nephew) challenged both my kids to play full out when skiing, playing tag, or hide-and-go-seek. Why am I sharing all of this? Because it’s truly wonderful to see all four of these children grow into incredible young adults. Laura has accomplished much in a relatively short period of time. From going to Stanford, getting her first book deal, to moving to Austrailia and more recently moving to NYC — which I truly love as she’s closer to my family (and Nana and Ga — Connie & Richard Knies, her grandparents).
Will and Violet have already spent time in her apartment in NYC and have become more comfortable taking trains and subways to meet up with their cousin.
Our only regret is that we weren’t home to support this book launch. That said, I have no doubt she’ll do another amazing job. It’s been my experience that she finds a way to succeed regardless of circumstances. I’m truly happy for her and wish her all the best.
