Brand Vietnam: The Moment (December 5, 2025)

Ever feel like the universe is guiding you to where you’re supposed to go? Sometimes I marvel at all the random events that must happen in order for the seemingly impossible to come together. Like the story of how I ended up sitting down and interviewing Tony Robbinstwice! Or giving a keynote speech after Sir Richard Branson and then interviewing him afterwards. Or Jocko Willink, or Malcolm Gladwell, etc.

Today was another one of those days. This time with Tran Tue Tri, author of Brand Vietnam: The Moment. It only could have happened through a series of events starting with joining Shirzad Chamine at Positive Intelligence. Then building the WealthBuilder program. Then having Ron Kertzner meet me for lunch in my hometown of Port Washington, New York and developing a friendship. Which resulted in an introduction to Nick Craig. And after a few Zoom calls, a recommendation to meet Tran Tue Tri when I’m visiting Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) which we did today.

Tran Tue Tri and Bill Carmody meeting for the first time in HCMC

If you’re lost on how we met, I don’t blame you. That’s entirely my point. In what universe would someone from Port Washington, New York who worked for 25 year in marketing and the last 6 helping thousands of coaches build their coaching business, end up meeting a former VP of Unilever in addition to Samsung and P&G who is an author focused on helping others understand the brand that is Vietnam (in this moment).

And yet, when two people are destined to meet, the universe finds a way. And boy were we ever destined to meet. For the past two weeks, I’ve marveled at how fertile the business and entrepreneurship ground is in Vietnam. This country is ripe for change and exponential growth. And yet, it’s much easier for an outsider to see this (or at a minimum, someone who has left Vietnam for several years or more and is just coming back). Tran Tue Tri sees this better than most and has taken the time to write this book, Brand Vietnam: The Moment in order to help others see it too — especially those living here in Vietnam.

And she’s not stopping here. In fact, she’s just getting started. Her next book, Blue Dragon Dream, is about to be launched in the Vietnam market (initially available only in Vietnamese language, but will soon be translated to English). In this book she helps elevate the vision of what Vietnam will (could?) look like in the next few decades so that the 20 and 30 somethings can really see the awesome potential that is the country of Vietnam.

Beautiful inscription inside my copy of Brand Vietnam: The Moment

And so today, I’m deeply grateful for this meeting and all the possibilities that are coming into view as a result. Just nine days ago on Thanksgiving (November 27th), I was sitting with three other incredible women up in Hanoi who see the same opportunities (see related blog post). And, of course, my dinner last night with Violet and her husband (see related blog post) speaking along similar lines.

There’s something magical about this time in Vietnam. The energy of this country is palpable and so many powerful women don’t just see it, they are the very catalysts to ensuring that it all comes together. I’m just fortunate enough to be here to witness it and play whatever small part I am able to contribute now and in the future. I love my life and am so grateful to all the incredible people I’m blessed to have met in person (and also virtually).

When I was growing up, a number of people would share with me that “your network is your net worth.” At the time, I didn’t really buy that argument as I chalked it up to ivy league graduates rubbing shoulders and pressing palms as a means to getting ahead. But now I see the “at least 10% truth” in that statement that I was unable to see before. Getting to know all these powerful women is helping me better understand what is truly possible here in Vietnam. The deeper my connections go, the deeper my understanding of what’s possible.

I encourage you to get your copy of Brand Vietnam: The Moment

If you want a deeper understanding of what’s happening right now in Vietnam, I encourage you to get your copy of Brand Vietnam: The Moment so that you may see what all the fuss is about (and potentially how you can play a role in the future development and growth of the country of Vietnam). I suspect the next 5 years will see exponential growth kicking off several decades of continued prosperity. All the evidence is pointing in that direction. See for yourself.
