Gamaksan Mountain, South Korea (April 24, 2026)
Would you travel to a mountain hike just to go across a suspension bridge? You know, the same kind of bridge they build on kids playgrounds because they are fun to shake and bounce on. Only, this one is hundreds of meters up connecting two mountain tops.
Epic views. Stunning hike. Amazing suspension bridge to play on!
The cables connecting the bridge are as thick as your fully gripped fist. And it’s not nearly as wobbly as you might expect (much to our disappointment :-)
But the length of the suspension bridge combined with epic hike and spectacular views made it all worth while. Round trip, it’s about a 2 mile hike. My Apple watch clocked it at just under 15,000 steps (14,892) total for the day and 108 flights of stairs climbed. Needless to say, my exercise rings were all closed today.
Celebrate good times, come on!
I can’t stress how beautiful this hike was. Yes, it helped that it was a sunny day to be sure, but the trail was meticulously kept and included hand rails, steps, and even a kind of fiber … rug? that covered the loose dirt to make sure you kept your footing regardless of shoe choice.
At the top of the mountain is a gazebo overlooking the suspension bridge. The bridge looks so tiny from the top. Meanwhile the mountains of South Korea are sweeping and the perfect color green. There may have been some forest bathing, but today it felt more like being charged up by the many mountains of South Korea.
Another spectacular day in South Korea. I’ve always loved nature. There was something truly magical about being in nature with my kids exploring all of these mountain tops. I loved every minute of it.
