Manheim, Germany: Luisen Park (August 30, 2025)
Violet’s flight arrived 30 minutes early to the Frankfurt airport. She didn’t sleep at all on the plane. So now the challenge is to stay active long enough during the day to get on Central European Time. No problem. We began our journey right there in Frankfurt repeating some of the highlights Iv Jaeger and I had with Ramune Lekamaviciute two days before.

On the car ride from Frankfurt, the lack of sleep was catching up with Violet, and that’s totally understood. So I asked Iv where we might go that’a a bit more “high energy” so that we can make it until 9pm CET. Her answer was Luisen Park. So off we went right after lunch.
And there were a few videos capturing the essence of the fun being had at Luisen Park. The main event being one of the spinning merry-go-rounds built in the same style as the Tea Cups ride at most theme parks. Warning, even watching this video could make you dizzy as neither Violet or I held back as we spun the wheel in front of us. That fun … until eventually you hit your limit. I clearly hit mine before Violet was ready to be done:
And just one more to share that was a really creative way to have a see-saw with ropes and seats between parents and kids. The design allowed a much bigger “jump” up and slow descent down.
Overall, really fun day. Felt wonderful when Violet commented, “This is DAY ONE!” Both Violet and I would have loved to have had the whole family with us — Will, in particular, would have loved all the “adult playground” options. I think Elena’s mom, Connie, would have enjoyed all the horticulture in and around the park. The landscaping was top-notch and the whole experience was wonderful. Great way to welcome Violet into Europe as we settle in and get ready for our travel to Amsterdam on Monday.
