Sunset Phuket (November 14, 2025)
Yes, it’s another beach day. With a full 10 days in Phuket, Thailand, Elena, Violet and I have been enjoying our down time. For Violet, that’s sleeping in until 3pm (not an exaggeration). For Elena and I, that’s sleeping in until 7am (relish the thought!) and then heading to the beach. We went back to the same one (see related post on Nai Harn Beach) and this time it was a bit sunnier and less windy day.

Even though the waves were not quite as large as a few days back, we decided to rent a boogie board and apply our newly developed skills from our lessons on the flowrider wave ride (see related water slide park post). Both Elena and I caught a number of waves and expertly rode them up to the shore. We were very proud of ourselves doing it.
And after our allotted hour on the boogie board, we hung around on our beach chairs with umbrella reading a bit (and Elena did some of her cross stitch project) until we decided it was time for lunch.
Only when we returned from our full beach day plus one hour being back home (i.e. when it was 3pm) did we decide to wake up Violet. Elena got a manicure and I waited for Violet to take a shower and then we both went for Thai Massages (not a bad way to “start your day”).
After that, we regrouped with Elena and found a pizza joint that was right on Rawai Beach so that we could watch the sunset as we had dinner. This was the call.
At first, we were in bean bag chairs and while this was cute, it wasn’t comfortable for an eating experience, so we “upgraded” to a table with chairs and it was right next to the water. Much, much better experience overall and glad we asked for what we wanted.

Each day we are relaxing just a little bit more. When I first suggested that we stay 10 days here in Phuket, Thailand, Elena thought I was nuts. “What are we going to do in Phuket for ten days?!?”
And now, after enjoying two full days at the beach with no agenda, a full day at a water slide park (one of the best in Thailand, I hear) and tomorrow we go on a scuba diving adventure, it just doesn’t sound so crazy after all.
Lately, the conversation has shifted to, “You know, other than the extremely long flight from New York to get here, I could get used to spending several weeks in Thailand.” And that’s one of the great things about traveling around the world. You settle into places you hadn’t considered spending long periods of time in — suddenly the world feels a bit smaller and more accessible.
Yep, we are enjoying out time in Phuket, Thailand. Quite a lot.
